Jersey City Pride: Diversity and Acceptance

Jersey City has become among the most diverse and accepting communities in America. In fact, the Advocate Magazine has ranked Jersey City one of the queerest cities in the nation over other well-known gay-friendly cities such as New York City, San Francisco and Buffalo. Jersey City also got a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s municipal equality index. And once again, WalletHub.com has named Jersey City the most diverse city in the country. Every year WalletHub compares more than 500 of the largest U.S. cities across three key indicators of cultural diversity — ethnicity and race, language and birthplace.
The 18th Annual Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival will be held on Saturday, August 25th, 2018 1-9 pm. The Festival will take place on Newark Avenue between Grove Street and Jersey Avenue in the heart of historic downtown Jersey City.
The Jersey City Pride Festival celebrates the diversity of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities and allies of Hudson County and the New York City metropolitan area. Last year the official estimate of attendance at the festival was 14,000-15,000 people. The Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival is recognized not only as the premier LGBT event in Hudson County, but also one of the largest festivals in the Northern New Jersey region. The events of Pride season exemplify the strength and growth of our LGBT & allied communities.
More importantly, Jersey City Pride emphasizes the importance of diversity in our community, making it stronger and more accepting of all individuals and their contributions to our society.
Currently, there are 117 homes available for sale in Jersey City. They have an average list price of $625,000. The homes range from $145,000 to $1.395 million. In a recent CNN article, Jersey City was listed as one of the “most affordable gay-friendly neighborhoods in 10 major cities,” with a median price per square foot that was almost one-third of the prices in Manhattan.
